I have been driving around San Francisco lately and have alway been aware that parking there sucks. But its only lately that I have determined that parking at Sonoma State sucks as well. There is one parking lot “J” that is always full by nine. Nearby is parking lot “F” is never full yet people will spend a huge amount of time driving in circles in search for that elusive parking spot. As indicated on this fabulous map, the parking lots are right next to each other!

I go to the gym during lunch about 3 times a week. Walking to my car I am followed each time and begged/harrassed/stalked for my precious parking spot. To show my displeasure I will often go down the wrong aisle then cut across to where my car really lies in wait. *heh*
When I return (with the happy workout glow) people are circling around the J parking lot. I try once, say “screw this” and move over to the F lot. Park in less that 60 seconds, and in my office while the stalkers are still circling and waiting!
But wait there is more stupidty! This morning I drive into J and this car stops in front of me and starts to back up. I’m like “wtf? We realize (Izzytart was in the car with me) she wants us to back up 3 car lengths so she can park! The parking lot is like 1/2 empty and this chick wants us to back up back up so squeeze her fat car between two SUV’s that are both over their lines. So I pass her, park down the way. Few seconds later she shows up, after realizing no way her car was going to fit.

Mmmm, these are college students, right? Theorectically among the best educated, smartest people around, right?
But, hey, they are also among Generation Pudgers! Got to park close lest they otherwise exert themselves…..
Oh, nice map, by the way. Say is that arrow pointing to your office?
Ooh, parking lot vultures are the bane of my existence! (Guess that’s one advantage about not having a car over here…) I mean if there is a lot with spaces they should be so lucky! When I went to Cal Poly, it was the worst parking situation ever, you literally couldn’t get a parking space after 11 o’clock. They did, however, have a damn good bus system, but I think that’s asking too much from a person who gets there 2 hours early to save themselves a 10 min walk…
