Many years ago, I used to go to the Mayflower, a pub in San Rafeal, for a trivia contest and dinner. In going almost 10 years, I think we placed (or the expression “Came into the money” 3 times. Well that was also Thursday night, and that soon became the night for Savage BeatdownTM. So I stopped going.
Well, the guy who runs the trivia switched the night and location so I gave it a shot last night. Bryan, Julie, John and I drove to San Anselmo at a pub called Ted’s Bar & Restaurant. The food was good (service was slow as heck and they forgot the salads). But the trivia was just the same. I recognized a few of the team names from my last trivia experience (almost 4 years ago!)
Well the questions were hard but we had a good time. We came in 7th, just one place below making money. But as John said, if we had had one more brain! I am thinking of inviting the librarians …
Our Team name?

Smolt is not funny
Smolt is not only amusing, but highly descriptive of the trivial process; large pointless collectives moving as a single mind . I think it’s a brilliant name.
I thought it was funny. They were above parr and newly (re)born into the trivia waters. Later on they can be the Salmon of Doubt.
Swim with me, my smolten kin… through the warm trivial waters of humiliation and self-doubt! I mean… we were NOT humiliated and our self-esteem remains intact. Soon we shall RULE the Ted!
I actually find SMOLT Hilarious. I only wish I could be part of smolt.

Oy, vey! Meshugina! What about gefilte fish? Why has the poor little gefilte been forgotten? Or how about a bit of lox? Especially on a nice bagel with cream cheese. Ahh, yes, smolt is premature lox, without the smoke flavor.
Smolt is a prestigious name. Back to school for you!
SMOLT! I like to smolt – smolting is fun. Especially when you play a cleric.
Resist not evil: but whosoever shall smolt thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
The sun shall not smolt thee by day, nor the moon by night.
I will smolt his noddles.
You should get T-shirts with big gothic letters that say “SMOLT”. That would be extremely chic.
SMOLT, lovely.
