I admit I had a pretty permissive childhood, rules and laws were lax. This no doubt explains why I became such a goody-two shoes. Why rebel when almost everything was okay? One thing my mother was strict on was breakfast cereals. No junky candy-filled sweet luscious cereals. Grapenuts, Corn Flakes and Chex was the rule.
Once a year, on my birthday, was I allowed to buy a junky, tasty box of multigrained candy that was part of a healthy breakfast! I would ponder my breakfast choice with delight and glee, but it often came down to two choices. Chocolate like Count Choccula or Co-Co Pebbles, or cereal with candy bits in it, like Captain Crunch (with crunchberries), or HoneyComb.
Now that I am an adult, I still have the same “rules”, only one box a year but what shall it be ……chocolate or candy bits? Imagine my UTTER DELIGHT when last week I discovered that Lucky Charms, filled to the brim with marshmallow bits now comes in chocolate.
Let me repeat that LUCKY CHARMS COMES IN CHOCOLATE. Imagine combining the marshmallows from Lucky Charms with the cereal part from Count Chocula. That delicious combination gives us Chocolate Lucky Charms, or what I’m now calling, “Mana in a Large Bowl.” How could one get tired of green clovers, purple horseshoes, blue moons, blue diamonds, rainbows and thin chococlately milk?

This will probably push you over the edge, but did you know that the cereal bits in Lucky Charms (the things that are not marshmallows) are among the healthiest cereal things in big name cereals? ‘Tis true. I wonder, though, what choclatifying them does to that….
Wait a minute… horseshoes? rainbows? blue diamonds? wtf?! The last time I looked at a box there were only like… four types of marshmallow treats: pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars and green clovers. What on EARTH is going on here? Has the world gone mad? God, my head is spinning….
John went out to get some soda and came back with a box of chocolate Lucky Charms! But in case you are wondering, the mashmellow bits are:
In fact according to the fact-finding box these luscious treats have magical powers!
Horseshoe gives you speed, the heart is life, shooting star gives your flight, clover is luck, moon is invisibility, ballon floats, rainbow is travel and pot o’ gold is illumination! All that power in a small box!
