About 2 weeks ago my cell phone decided it was tired. The battery was fully charged but the display would only come up when I removed the battery, put it back and started up again. And then only once and I would have to redo this action each time I wanted to make a call. And of course I couldn’t recieve calls.
I knew what had to be done …. go to the Cinguar store. I left work a little early and arrived at Cingular bright eyes and ready for the wait .. and the wait. Cingular makes you sign up when you get there and each time I have waited over an hour. Talking with other friends this seems typical.
After 45 minutes I got a salesman. After determingin my phone was if not dead seriously hurt, I aksed him about other phones. He indicated 2 phones but cautioned that one might be “a little too technical for me.” Hummmm.
At this point, I then worked him through the paces and research my record, explain to me the many many options and then when he was done took the phone number of the warrentee department and left. My eys were wide and I blinked a lot. Revenge is a dish best served by making the salesman wait on me, and wait and wait.
Called up cingular, wait …wait …explain .. get a new phone. IT arirved, it workd yeah! The Mom’s phone died. She gets new phone, attempt to fix that, it breaks old phone, new phone and my new phone. I belive it has something to do with the battery but at this point I dont care.
Call up Cingular again .. wait wait wait… inform the salesperson I now have 3 dead phones on my coffee table. She puts me on hold. 15 minutes later 2 brand new upgraded phones are on their way, via express mail all paid by Cingular.
Moral to my story?
Cingular live support sucks. Their stores are organzied in such a way to encourage long long waits in an attempt for you to buy new services. The services rather than any products they sell is the goal. However, support via the phone is pretty darn good.

New phones seem to be the order of the day. And bluetooth headphones are actually kinda cool.
