Some friends (gconnor and mconnor) gave me their old stereo receiver/cd thingies. This was good for 2 main reasons.
- I got to see them. Even though we only live about 2 hours away, its been awhile. I blame it on my neurotic habit of overscheduling. But it was nice to see them and they got to meet John.
- I got to get rid of huge ass speakers. I also got rid of a receiver I could never get to work and a tape deck I think worked but could never test without the receiver plus as John mentioned to me “do you have any tapes anymore?” umm no….
So on Independence Day I decided to celebreate by hooking up all these things. I had also been given all the manuals, remotes and a huge bag of wires and “stuff”. I removed all the old stuff and placed the new things gently on the floor and assessed the inventory.
Receiver .. check. CD holder/thingies .. check. Remotes … check. Speakers all 5 of them in varying degress of size .. check. Big bag of wires and plugs .. check. Then I looked at the back of the receiver and saw all the various things that needed to be plugged in and noticed the amost amazing thing. Gconnor had labeled everything. ALL THE OUTLETS WERE LABELED, how GLORIOUS!I putted around for a few minutes then, while watching judge shows to John’s well… disgust. Then I asked John for help. He came over and I subtly made my way to the kitchen where I spent the next 30 minutes cleaning out the fridge and gaining independence from dirt and slime!
John dilligently continued on the stereo adventure (while watching the judge shows). In this picture he is watching Judge Hatchett. At that point he was so disgusted he turned the tv off.I went downstairs for an hour of treadmill fun. When I was done I heard this pounding beat. Enter the living room, John had installed everything, the dvd, cd, radio, itunes and ipod were all hooked up and then we sang the theme song from Smallville. He had also labels the rest of the things, keeping with gconnors glorious theme. The CD player sticks out but we are going to cut a hole in the back, should be fine. I slowly begain the process of adding my CD’s to the player. You can input the title and stuff in the player either with the remote control or a keyboard. Guess which one I am using?

Wow, it’s interesting that in both the second and third picture there’s a great big BUTT on the screen.
GOG I HATE JUDGE SHOWS!!!
IT IS GLORIOUS! It looks much nicer there than in the garage here.
I must say, there is something nice about having really tiny speakers, almost hidden, and having a $%*@ing big subwoofer under a couch or something. It’s like *BOOM* followed by “wtf where did that boom come from”.
I have heard that it’s good to spread the left and right speakers very far apart, at least the front ones, though I’m not a sophisticated enough audiophile to be able to hear the difference. Well, if you actually use all 5+1 speakers, you’re doing better than I did, regardless of where you put them.
