I have accepted that I will get Spam in my inbox. A few will pass thru my spam blocked, and then again thru the email clients spam/junk filter. I can easily ignore those, or press the lovely delete key.
However, I got this one a few days ago, not only was it personal (with my name)it had no misspelling and although I found the message abhorent, the technical aspects of this spam letter was well done. Its a Pro-Marriage Amendment
Meet Matt Daniels, J.D., Ph.D., co-author of the Marriage Protection Amendment and founder of the Alliance for Marriage (AFM). Mr. Daniels is the man on the front lines, protecting the definition of marriage in the United States of America today.
Then the email continues about what a tough life Daniels has lead and how he beat adversity to become an attorney, with a doctorate in Political Science. Daniels was abandoned by his father and raised in poverty by a struggling mother. The lingering effects of growing up fatherless shaped what would ultimately become the mission of the Alliance for Marriage: “More children raised in a home with a mother and a father.”
What is the Marriage Act you ask?
The text of the Marriage Protection Amendment reads:
Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman.
[Senate Joint Resolution 1]
Okay so I am completely against this, that goes without saying. I try understand other peoples opinions, even if I disagree with it completely. What I found curious is why I got this email, why now? I recently signed up the theknot.com, a wedding/bridal/engagement web site and 3 days later I get this email. Do you think this is just a conincidence?

No coincidence at all. You and I are clearly following the dictate laid out in the bible. Doesn’t it say in there that you must be married in a church with a white dress and tuxedo?
Isn’t it church doctrine that you must play “Here comes the bride” as the bride comes?
Isn’t it dogma that the woman must vow to “love, honor, and obey“?
You’re going to hell if you don’t do exactly that. And wasn’t the Constitution of the United States written to prevent people from going to hell? Or am I thinking of some other document?
What are the odds that our vows will include the word “obey”?
okay so I am bad and I keep forgetting to actually go to your blog to read it cause it doesn’t tell me when you update.:) (and I have that rss thing. Feh.)
Anyways. I got that stupid letter, too! It made me so pissed. WTF?
