This marked the first weekend were we didn’t have to worry about wedding related activities. John spent Saturday morning working on various hard drive issues on the 2nd pc while I worked on making cinnamon rolls and various dehydrated treats. Well the water was a bit too hot and killed all the yeast so the rolls, although sweet and cinnamon-ly were way to dense. Oh well, next time. I did do well on the apples and tomatoes attempt. A co-worker’s garden has just exploded and I dehydrated a bunch of cherry tomatoes (first brushing basil oil on ‘em). Yum.
That evening we meet a bunch of peeps at Tex Wasabi for ‘rock and roll BBQ Sushi. The sushi was good and the cosmos were damn good. John popped some money into the juke box and we got to hear (and vogue) to Dancing Queen. Did I mention the Cosmos were good? Luckily the theater was within walking distance, we slowly made our way there and watched StarDust. The movie was good but has such a narrow audience, it was already in the 2nd run theater. But hell … you got to see Robert DeNiro in a corset, good times … good times.
The next day was what we shall call “The Day of Meat” John did some quick school prep, I did some treadmill action then we were on our way to SF. Quick shopping for John and then we met gconnor, miche-connor , Darren, Corri and was introduced to Jennifer (who was wearing this cute shirt and skirt combo, now I am not a fashion person, but damn I liked it) for dinner at palace of meat AKA Espetus, a Brazilian Steak House.
Also called a rodizio or churrascaria , it is a style of restaurant service in Brazilian and Portuguese restaurants. One pays a fixed price and the waiters bring an offering of food to each customer several times throughout the meal, until the customers signify that they have had enough.
The meat is often :
- Filet mignon chunks wrapped in bacon
- Turkey chunks wrapped in bacon (these two are usually two-bite sized)
- Sirloin steak (cut semicircular and served in slices)
- Roast beef (served like sirloin steak)
- Beef short ribs
- Pork ribs
- Chorizo or some other spicy Iberian pork sausage
- Chicken hearts
- Grilled dark-meat chicken
- Grilled pineapple or banana (meant as a palate cleanser between courses)
Very polite men with large skewers of meat walk about the place, offering you meat. We were provided with a card, red on one side and green on the other. The servers will only bring more meat if the card is flipped to green side, or as Miche called it, the meat faucet. It was a very good day!
Oh and babs sent me some pics from her iphone. Now I want an iphone.

Hahaha! I love that pic! Kim looks like she’s about to hit you over the head with her bouquet, Julie looks like she’s going to whisper something mischievous into your ear, and you look stoned! It’s a perfect wedding shot
